great observations mate!
have you got some photos of this transformation?
im still working out the economy on the Polo... Just filled it up today!
you've got some great economy figures there for a 2L 16v the TDi get about 5 and your not far off!
When we bought our Toledo GTI (2L ABF 16v) it had 17" Chrome Mags on it!
Not really our cup of tea, but the 5 stud wheel pattern kinda limits options for change, I have heaps of 4 stud wheels.
It also seems to not be as economical as I would like 8.5 being average consumption figures for the MFA!
Anyway today I went to look at some Mk4 golf wheels from ebay. 5 Stud and looked good, but only 14inch with massive tyres. 185/70/14 I reckon they were an inch taller than my 17s with 205/40/17s.
Couldnt bring myself to buy em, so I had a rummage in the shed and found some BBS 15s off a Mk3 VR6. 205/50/15. They also looked nearly as big as the 17s with skinny tyres, but I slapped em on the car anyway.
It makes the car look a bit more conservative or ordinary, but WOW to drive it acellerates faster, has better ride comfort and best of all, the fuel consumption is heaps better. I achieved 5.5L per 100 on a decent run and 6.3 if I boot it. I`m pretty happy for now.
Maybe 16" BBS`s would make me truly happy

VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life

There should be a few mk4 gti wheels floating around . Did the 16v Seat Toledo get 5 stud standard or has it been converted ?
The 16v Toledo is a GTI spec car. It got the GTI / VR6 spec Brakes, Interior and Wheels as standard. I dont know what the original wheels looked like, as it came to me with chromies.Originally Posted by Bug_racer
Yeah I reckon I`ll keep an eye out for some 16" 5x100s.

16inch BBS`s are the hardest to find.
I know where there is another set that need redrilling, but I might get onto it soon.

5.5ltr/100kms!!! shllllt.. Best the cupras ever done is 6.6ltr/100, and how much heavier is the cordy?
Cupra 20VT
If you have smaller wheels it is 6l / 80km
I can get it below 6 if i drive below 80 like a girl everywhere.
On a realistic drive, 6.3 is more like it.
Bootting it hard, I can use 8.
