Tires... Any recommendations, I was thinking of getting Continental Sport Contact 3s?
Black roof! The wrap was a pain to place but looks so good once done. Here is a little tip for those planning on doing the same thing, cut the paper which covers the adhesive in half. Allowing you to lay one half down at a time, spray a small amount of soapy water down to help you lift it back up if needed. Lay the whole half down and then work on removing the bubbles bit by bit, then once you have most of the big bubbles out. Get a hair dryer and just go over the rest, try and dry the soapy water underneath to make it stick better and quicker. We just used a cloth and the rubber side of the window cleaner to push the bubbles out and smooth it off.
I also bought rims finally! Thanks again Dave! They are brilliant, I cleaned them up and they came out like new!
These photos are before I cleaned them up.
Looking for a new project! PM if you have a Golf Mk2 in need of some TLC.

If you're still up in the air about coilovers, I've got a set of FK AKs under my Polo GTI and they're not too bad. Firm, but I wouldn't say rough or uncomfortable. Landed them brand new for just shy of $400 inc postage.

Some 195/45/16 would ber very nice on those rims
Try Trackside Race and Rally Tyres Service Craig is an awsome bloke and can do an allignment aswell. He helps out many forum members and supplies a lot of Victoria's motorsport tyres.
Next up!
My brother bought a chip for his MK3 Golf, I'll wait until he has installed it to see if it's worth it. But if it does what it says it does which is more power, then I'll install one of those.
Tires!!! So I can get those rims on!
Repaint some faded areas, such as the whole front end (don't want odd shades of red), top of the doors and the rear panel.
Red footwell lighting.
Installing a shark fin on the roof and filling the gap for the original aerial.
Also, depending on my budget, brighter headlights!
It's coming together! Also, my brother is ordering some coilovers from eBay... I'll check out the quality and post a quick review.

Really glad I came across this thread.
Was a good read during my lunch break![]()
MK2 - *Insert list of dealer purchased extra's/standard features here*
80 series - The MK2's BIG, Sooty, polar opposite...
HAHAHA
The starter motor seized up which I'm not too happy about. I bought a second hand one from Volks affair for $150, which isn't too bad. The only issue is that $150 was suppose to be for the cruise this Saturday. I'll be fitting it later today, hopefully it all goes well! I'll post some pics later.
Cheers Ryan! That's a MINT mk2 GTI you have!![]()

Nice car! Digging the mods so far. Good to see the seats getting some love. I'm looking into some vinyl wrap for the roof of my golf but can only seem to find carbon fibre in a size big enough to cover. Was hoping you could point me in the right direction for some gloss black and wondering how much it set you back if you don't mind. Cheers.
