    SEAT Cordoba meets Herbie!

This is what I did today. Quite a challenge with a small grinder!

    Seat

The Seats of the mid nineties were rated the best built and safest car of its class so don't bag the Spanish steel.I've cut one up too and they are well built. No I haven't got Spanish blood but it is a Volkswagen under another name.
Try cutting up Miysubishi Mirage you only need a butter knife.

    Seats

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm going back a long way! While travelling in Spain in the late 60s Seats were identical to Fiats. Must have either manufactured them under licence or CKDed from Italy or something. When VAG took them over it was logical that they would use the Golf and Polo platforms for the Cordoba and Ibiza. They're great cars and should have sold well in Oz. Cheap Koerean imports will always win over quality.
Looney, so you did use the grinder?? Was the air chisel no good? Must admit I've never used one for such a job, but they're great for cutting the top out of 44s and I used one to cut an access hatch in the gearbox cover of my Range Rover so that I could overhaul the transfer gears.

In the 70s and 80s, Seat were the same as Fiat, only made more cheaply if that is imaginable. The seat marbella was the same as the fiat panda and the fiat uno was the same as the seat ibiza. Then in 92-93 VW bought Seat and retooled all the factorys to make cheaper versions of the Mk3 Golf. In fact the base model cars contain mostly Golf Mk1 and 2 parts. They are well made though and I think represent excellent value at the momen in Oz.

Yes the grinder had to be, as my compressor was too feeble. Oxy next time definately.
