thats a shame i feel for you. radiator would be easy to send however check that its your actual radiator thats damaged, it could be the aircon condenser?

Hi everyone, you may remember me as the girl with the coil problem in her '95 Ibiza around christmas, which was very happily resolved when Golf Loon sent me the part and I put it on myself!
Last night I ran into the back of a P plater (in a Fiat no less) in Melbourne. Very annoying, luckily we were only going about 20 kph. I damaged my grille and water started leaking everywhere, presumably I've buggered the radiator. Haven't got it to the garage yet, but wondering if anyone knows of a parts supplier down here? Just incase they can't fix it. (I'd ask you Matt but I think it may be to big to post??)
It breaks my heart to see my Ibiza all broken up!

There are three '95 Ibizas (not Cupras) at Centre Rd. Wreckers at 1602 Centre Rd. Springvale. That is about 100 m. east of Westall Rd. and on the south side of Centre Rd. "You can't miss it...."
This is a self serve wrecker, you take your tools there and remove your own parts. One of them is a white one and still has a very straight complete front. I can't remember whether that one has AC or not. I don't know if a Cupra has a bigger radiator or not.
According to Pickapart's website, they have two Cordobas, one a sedan and the other a hatch, at their Campbellfield yard. That is also a self serve yard.

So typically the mechanic I'm dealing with cannot seem to find any parts... Apparently he spoke to the wreckers you suggested Hugh and they said they don't have any radiators in their Ibiza's. Do you guys know if the radiators in the Cordobas are the same as Ibiza's?
He's quoting me $800 for a new one. Sounds steep.
Hi, I don't know much about Seats but here is my to bobs worth.
Depending on the damage you maybe able to get your existing radiator
re-cored. If you contact a radiator repairer they should be able to tell you. I had an accident in my last car which damaged the radiator and they simply put a new core in the existing one.
Might be an option if you can't find a replacement.

We need to know what engine size the car is and whether it has a/c. They have different radiators.
If its a cordoba 1.8, I have a near radiator that was only in the car for a month, yours for $200, or secondhand ones for $150
I send stuff all over Australia, its not expensive. I sent a gearbox to Perth this morning, a radiator to VIC will be easy.
Cheers

Clarerae, Melbourne is a big area. You haven't given any indication of what part of Melbourne. I don't know how difficult it is for you to travel to Springvale (preferably) or Campbellfield, but if I was you that is what I would do, provided you have enough information to know what you are looking for when you get there.
I haven't tried it myself but I'm a bit doubtful that the people who operate either of these yards would be prepared to go for a walk around the yards and report back. I didn't take particular note but I'd be surprised to hear that none of the three Ibizas at Springvale have radiators. The white one still had all it's front panels in good condition last Monday.
Do you have a petrol head friend or relative who will go with you?
Otherwise, tell Matt what model, engine size, options etc. you have and do it the easy way.
Hugh.

Thanks alot for your help Hugh. I live in Fitzroy, was more than willing to travel to Springvale, but with work over the weekend I couldn't get there till wednesday, and also don't really know what to look for, or remove! Decided the simplest option was to call Matt - He's sending down a quality radiator and other bits (air condensor thing and fan?) that the mechanic will install.
I'm feeling really frustrated with all the mis-information I'm getting from the mechanic. Can anyone recommend someone in my area who's willing to work on Seat's?
