New Sexy Toledo for the Wife

So there has been much deliberation at home for a while as to what car the Mrs can have.

We sold the gas guzzling VR6 auto Passat, which always felt sluggish and limp to me. And you cant fit a washing machine in the back! I`m a Hot Hatch kinda guy.

Golf 3 is ok, but the 2L is uninspiring and they feel pretty small with 2 kids and some baggage onboard.

Kat has been zipping round in an Ibiza GTI for a week or so now and likes it, but 2 doors is a bind and you cant recline the seat with a baby capsule onboards, as for the boot, you couldnt get half a pram into it!

Have been contemplating a Seat Toledo for a while, but they are pretty rare, especially in manual.

This was in the Trading Post last week, so we were there first thing Saturday am.

    Pretty Tidy outside

    Half Leather inside is nice

And ABF motor was the clincher.

Boot is massive, It did 7.3L per 100 on the way home and has all extras except cruise.

Needs an AC service and a wheel alignment. We are well happy.

It looks low and has 17s which dont rub! I`ll have to see what suspension it has.

Dont know about the GT thing, but is has 5 stud wheels. Is this a 16v thing? Or has someone done the VR6 conversion?

Its smaller than the Passat so should be easier to park.

It has ABS and an Airbag.

from wikipedia on the SEAT Toledo

    sorry my mistake

Mine is the GT or Sport version using the 2.0 L/115 PS (85 kW) engine

yours id assume is the 150 PS (110 kW) 2.0 L GTI 16V

i think these come standard with 5 studs, could be wrong though

    yeah theyre easy to park

oh and seatenthusiasts.co.uk has changed to seatforum.net, and is getting bigger

    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

There are no official imports of Mk3 GTI to Australia.

This one is a 96 Model. It would have to be a special order, with the 16v and the leather I reckon.

I was in Supercheep looking up sparkplugs the other day and it is listed in all the Aussie books. I remember thinking "yeah right as if they brought those here"

I bought it from a car yard and just played a bit dumb, "whats a SEAT" kinda thing and they took it as a trade in so didnt care. They even took the Jetta that I took as a trade in for the Passat as part payment, so everyone was a winner

    Smile You're the winner

    Happy Matt and Kat!
Now all you have to do is plant a 1.9 turbo diesel into it and you have the perfect city car for a family
