The speedos in these cars suffer from electrical issues. Change the whole instrument cluster or take it apart and resolder, usually fruitlessly.
Usually they will work intermittantly.

just the speedo dosn't work? tacho, water temp and petrol still work, if so, read on...Quote:

While driving the car, tell him to pull on the wire. if the speedo jumps, then dies again, tell him to pull it a little harder. It should then work perfectly fine. To fix the problem on a budget, get a cable/zip tie and pull on the wire, and zip tie it to the steering collum.
2000RPM in 4th gear is around 60Km/h.

hi guys, I am planning to get a 2.0 Ibiza gti 95' . am a little sceptical about this. but knowing theres VW under the hood, gives me confidence. would someone tell me about their take on this car?
also, are the spare parts easily available in sydney?
p.s. I think I'm in love with this beauty. so want to know everything before i commit :)
Thats the best model mate. Yup most parts are same as Golf, anything SEAT specic I will have or can get.
I don't know about "the best one" Loon!!! I'd rather have my Cupra :biggrin:
That said, I would have been happy with the GTI if I could have got one at the time.
