    My new 95 Ibiza GTI

    Hi folks,

I'm new to this forum and just had a few Q's. I just bought my 95 Ibiza GTI and was wondering if they came with Drivers Airbag as standard or if it was an option, as mine has a Momo Steering Wheel. Also mine came with the 98 Cupra 16" silver rims from the looks of it. Also mine does not have any front fog lights, and it looks the wiring is there as there are just holes in the front lip where they should be. Are they easy to source without paying big $$$?

Also where is a good place to get the car serviced? Do i just take it to my VW dealer? I have tons of Shell Helix Ultra 5-40W which i use in my Bora (bought lots when kmart had 15% off everything ), should i change the oil in the Ibiza to that or would i need something else? car only has 137000km on the clock. Thanks in advance.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum

Some 1995s came with airbag, some did not.
The ones that did had a module in front of the centre console against the firewall. You can see it if you grovel on the floor in the drivers footwell.

SEATs can be problematic to get serviced since they pulled out of the Aussie market in 99. Mechanically the car is the same as a Golf 3 2L, so take it to a vw aftermarket specialist.

For Seat Specific parts, give me a call at Camden GTI 0423 051737 as we mail order SEAT stuff all over Australia.

The foglights always get broken, which is probably why yours have been removed.

Cupra wheels are a score, I`d leave em alone. tyre size is correct.

They are fun cars, enjoy it.
    Cheers
    Matt

    Welcome to the ibiza family!
I just bought my 95 GTi recently too, no airbags in mine... have you got a pic of the wheels to include? I'm interested to see how different they are to my original ones. (have a look at my pic gallery to see it)

any clues on the oil issue anyone? I was thinking the same because the owners manual is so specific about oil and coolant that it really strikes the fear of the VW gods into you about using anything else!

Welcome aboard Farq. Hope to see you on the bay cruise this weekend. Two VAG's! You lucky bugger - and two nice ones at that by the sounds of things. Congrats on the purchase!

No idea, since the last entry in the car logbook was the 105k, so i expect it to have whats required from the 120k & 135k done. will find out monday.

I'm just gonna use my Shell Helix Ultra 5-40W, as I use it in my Bora.

Thanks, wont be able to make the cruise as I have stuff to do on saturday.

BTW, anyone have any good recommendations on an alarm? Just want one that does the following and not have to spend too much on it:

    Immobiliser
    Remote Central locking
    Rolling random codes
Courtesy interior light would be a bonus
