All of a sudden my heater in my cupra only blows cold air. I changed the coolant and flushed the heater etc and it wasn't blocked. What are the main causes of this problem?

does the engine take forever to warm up? It could be a faulty thermostat, stuck in the open position. Does the heater blow warm when the engine is at normal running temp (about 90 degrees)?
If all the above is ok, could be a blocked heater core, or maybe an air lock in the heater matrix.
Sorry, can't be more specific without more details and a history of what you have done.

Its seems to heat up like before. Goes to half on the temp gauge and doesnt move. I ran water via the hose off the expansion tank that went into the matrix, water flowed out via the radiator ok. So I dont think its blocked. All fuses are ok. Also both hoses from matrix seem hot

Feel the return pipe from the heater matrix (where it comes out of the bulkhead). If its hot, then hot water is flowing through the matrix, and the problem lies elsewhere. Is there resistance when you turn the dial for hot and cold? Maybe the cable has come off and so can't be moved to hot.

Ok, sounds like there's a problem inside the car with the way the heater directs the airflow. Twist the hot/cold knob, whilst looking under the dash behind the heater controls. Best view would be from the drivers footwell. You should see the cable moving, and this in turn will lift a flap (which you can't see, as it is buried in the whole heater casing). Check the end of the cable is attached and you can see it moving.
This sounds like its going to be tricky to diagnose, and if the heater box is faulty, then it's a pain to get to I think. If its the same as the mk3, it means the dash needs to come out.

Its working fine again now. Goes from cold to super hot and everything in between like before. No idea what was going on, but the coolant swap must have fixed it. Why it took a couple of drives before it was going again though I dont understand.
Lucky I nearly ditched the ****er for a Clio RS CUP LOL
