Red face Info on new clutch. What to buy??

Hi i picked my ibiza up in april 2009 and i have already ruined a clutch. I learnt (by myself) to drive a manual in it and since it has quite a bit of power its slipping in all of the gears! So this year i will buy a new one but i was just wondering what to go for or what is available. I do not want just a new replacement stock clutch because it can obviousley not handle my driving(Lots of clutch kicking and only changing gears when i hit 5000) or the power my GTI has. I wanted to know if anyone has had any custom clutches put in there ibiza and what they went for or if there is a heavy duty clutch available for import. I was thinking of getting a heavy duty button clutch made custom for the weird ibiza gearbox but all info or opinions will be considered and listened to.

    Thanks for reading, Lawrie.

    New clutch

I’m sure Matthew will have some ideas on the solution.

Meanwhile as to the cause, don’t be too rough on yourself Comrade. What state was the clutch in when you acquired?

I traded in my Lada within 3 days of the first ‘whizz’ under power.

Was this immoral? I figured that the dealer (who was treating me like an idiot) would have to give a 3 month warranty so the new owner would notice the fault within that time at least, if not during a rigorous test drive.

You can see that the car determined when I had to upgrade. A consequence of this occurring sooner than I expected was that I was short of $ but saved $3000 by goijng for the Ibiza GTI instead of the Golf. Fate and Fortune led me to the car that turned out to be much better suited for me.

As to driving technique I suggest driving as if you have a lovely blind date as your passenger. You don’t want her to think: “Christ, if he’s this rough in the car, how bad will he be in the sack?” Drive like Liberace, not Sid Vicious.

    Good luck.

    Martin

    (First clutch OK at 120K)

    New Clutch

Looks like Matthew got in while I was writing my message.

Glad to see I was right to be confident.

I'll bear in mind his advice when mine goes.

    Golf has the same gearbox.
Original Equipment Clutch is absolutely fine for all but the most extreme driving.
