    Ibiza GTi Clutch Adjust???

OK, I'll admit it... Aircooleds are my thing.

Can some tell me how to adjust the clutch on my Wife's '96 Ibiza Gti??? The clutch is slipping just a bit when overtaking at freeway speeds, but will spin the wheels from a standing start. It's disengaging at the very start of pedal travel, so I'd like to see if I have any adjustment left before I book it in for a clutch job.

    Thanks,
    Rick

    Hi Rick,

Good to see another beezer owner on here. Having not needed to do an adjustment on mine yet i can't talk from experience but I'm sure that some one will jump on here soon with some ideas.

    cheers

It should have a self adjusting cable on it. Be worth checking if it has rubber bushes under the clutch arm on the box and under the cable where it goes through the bracket on the box.

How many ks? Could be the cable seizing, rather than the clutch.

    Thanks guys.
Self adjusting? Sounds complicated... I'll look for bushes and post pics.

    Around 216,000 km.

I just had a new Clutch, Clutch Cable, and Timing Belt fitted... It cost a bomb, but it's like a new car again...

Sounds like its slipping. Will probably need a new clutch.

It was about $1500, including a full service. I don't have the invoice handy, but I think the clutch cable alone was about $180...
