All welded up & back in this afternoon, I'll try to get as much done as I can tomorrow while I'm chasing the clip for the brake pedal.

The Cupra is back on the road again, managed to get it all back together last night. And that is one task I never want to do again!

Just had this happen to me at 86,000km
    Going home Friday night.
Pressed pedal down to stop at a red light and snap! Now I'm stalled and in the center lane waiting for the light to turn green.
I put it in 2nd gear crank the engine and I'm moving again! Now I must keep going and hope the lights are all green. With some varying speeds and a double U-turn thown in I managed to time 5 more green lights to arrive on my street.

I wish I had been a little more proactive as the signs were there of the impending failure. For a couple of weeks leading up to the failure there was a faint clicking noise whenever i used the clutch which was the clutch cable arm flexing on the side of the pedal box after it had cracked. It should be easy enough to see a cracked mount prior to a total failure like mine.

I keep checking it and haven't detected anything or heard any creaking etc. I wonder if they will all fail sooner or latter

Spent today putting everything back together again. Such an awkward task but I'm glad it's done. I think the triangle brackets have eliminated any chance of flex in the clutch cable arm. Looking forward to never having to do that again!

After inspecting mine I'm pretty sure they are all destined to fail on the Ibiza. The clutch cable arm on the box is poorly supported to withstand the strain of the heavy clutch. Poor design causes it to flex too much which is why I added the triangle brackets to mine.
Another thing I noticed is the Cordoba has the same pedal box but the clutch is much lighter.
