    I got myself an Ibiza

I have taken the plunge and bought a Seat Ibiza GTI !! Hopefully pick it up on Wednesday next week.

Anyone know of a good place to get it serviced in melbourne metro. Also some advice on easy performance upgrades that don't cost the earth ! (computer, pod filter etc) Although my plan is to keep it as original as possible.

Looking forward to helpful hints from this forum.

couple months ago i was in the same boat! got mine now been doing it up lately. I think breathing is first thing you should start with so a good quality K&N Pod filter gives a good difference! i bought some really good spark plugs 6-4 i beleive theyre about 90 bux for four. put some good quality oil in it. If you can get hold of some definately go extractors. and exhaust system if you wanna go there 2and a half inch exaust with extractors and good quality muffler and tip cost you probly under 1500 with the exhaust system and Pod filter alone you will feel the difference by alot!

Thanks for the advice leo46. I'll start with the filter and then move onto the exhaust when the old ones is going to pack up. The car has very few K's for it's age so it may take a while !!

You will be waiting a while they're "Bulletproof" as some would say.My clutch has just started slipping after 250000 kms so thats a guestimate of the quality of parts! If you need any Seat specific stuff for the car my advice would be to PM Golf Loon as he runs a shop called Camden GTI and is always happy to help out.

Got The GTI in the GArage...Finally

To cut a long story short, the bloke I bought the Ibiza GTI off took till yesterday to get the RWC sorted !! A boot was gone on the RH CV and had to be replaced and then they found the LH bearing had play in it so they replaced that one as well !! But took way longer than expected. Have it at home and am very pleased with my initial drive. Would anyone know where I could get my hands on some roof racks for it, I am a keen cyclist and this thing is in mint condition so I don't want to scratch it all up putting bikes in and out ?

Chugoa, did you ever manage to sort out roof racks for it? (I am about to take delivery of a Black GTI Cupra and being a keen cyclist myself I don't want to scratch up the boot either).

    Cheers.

Volkspower in Burwood is where I'd be taking it for service.

Also dont bother with a pod, just get a high quality panel filter (even the stock ones flow heaps!!!)

i wouldn't got any more than 2" either for the exhaust, otherwise you'll loose torque.

get a bit of a nastier cam, extractors, 2" system, nice panel filter and you'll be onto a winner.

Also look into some nice coilovers, good rubber and some sway bars. Then it'll handle like its on rails!

i think they run 2.25" exhausts overseas but it's not as common here.
