    Cordoba tow bar

Where has anyone here obtained a tow bar?
    VW spares-computer said "no".
Hayman-Reece don't supply them any longer.
I've not found one at a wreckers. Well I did for $100.00 in NZ, but the freight would probably be prohibitive.
I could get one made, but would prefer to buy a stock item.

    Might have one here.
There are 2 kinds, early and late.
Early cars have plastic bumpres with a metal strip under the bumpers across the front and rear of the car and one or no airbags.
Later cars have 2 airbags and plastic bumpers right to the bottom of the car front and rear.
Towbars are different to allow for the different year models. Tell me which car you have and I`ll check for you.

    Hi 'Loon,
PM sent with more, but this may be enough.
It's a poverty pack 1998/1999, 1600cc Cordoba. No air bags. Doesn't seem to correspond to the models listings I have seen.
I can't see any metal strips, but the deep red-painted bumpers have black plastics skirts at the bottom.

I got a Hayman Reece one fitted to a 95 Cordoba about 2 years ago. It was pretty straightforward. Doesn't help you though if HR no longer supply.

Well, after many weeks of searching I found only two, at wreckers in Adelaide and NZ, both to suit the earlier model Cordoba.
Having one made locally brought up compliance and possible insurance issues.
Anyway the local guys said, "No".
Hayman Reece suggested to have an engineer design one, have it made, fitted and blue-plated. $$$
(In Brisbane, I could have bought a '95 auto Cordoba, with a tow bar already fitted, for $1,000.00!)
I eventually bought a "Tow Trust" bar from UK and fitted it myself.
Fewer $ than the Hayman Reece would have been, if I could have got one. Looks good. Problem solved.

    Hi Karmen,
I had it bought in and reshipped from UK with some trailer tie-downs included and the bill was not separated.
I estimate it cost A$420.00 with about four day delivery. Still exy.
Delivery was booked on line in UK at Interparcel : Discount UK & International Parcel Delivery & Courier Services and came here by DHL. It weighed 17kg. One other brand was 15Kg.
There are several 'bars available on Ebay, for around 100 pounds plus. Mine was 115 (with some delivery inside UK) so freight was more than the cost.
I bought the wiring and plug here at Supercheap.
The 120 minute fitting time took longer. It is hidden behind the bumper, with only the ball exposed. Can get a removable ball one.
A different 50mm ball fitting than those used here, but it is all rated etc and fits.
(The one in Adelaide is $120.00 and suits a '95 model Cordoba with different bumper. I scrapped the contact, but I got it from Golfloon and maybe could find it.)
