hi all
I found your website by accident actually (I was thinking about cars won on game shows in the 90's) and decided to find if any seats still exist. Now considering buying a early model Cordoba but I've had a look on redbook and their price guides differ enormously compared to what they are actually being advertised for, I’m sure someone here will have a better clue!! Also are there any common problems with them or should i be avoiding any particular year?
thanks in advance!
Belle

Welcome Belle.
I dont know what the redbook values say, but I rarely look there as they dont have much idea about european car prices.
Cordobas come in early 1994-1995 guise, with small bumpers and no airbags, from $1500 up 1.8L singlepoint injected, manuals are a safer bet
Mid - Late cordys 1996-1998 have two airbags, electric front windows and bigger more plasticy bumpers $2500-$5000 1.8L Singlepoint injected
Some late model ones are 1.6L EFI Engines, same as a polo SXE badged. They ere good motors, but the manual boxes on these cars are less robust than the 1.8L ones.
I`d get a manual one, as the autos are fully electronic 4 speeds and very costly to fix. Dont be scared of the early cars and most will do 350,000kms plus.
They are smart buying for budget VW motoring.

I can vouch satisfaction with the SEAT Cordoba 1.8L non fuel injected engine that the resident SEAT genius Matt 'Golf Loon" fitted.

thanks golf loon!
im glad you think the manual is better than auto, i hate autos
So now i think im on the lookout for a 96 or 97 just for price and features.
Can you tell me the difference between the 97 alpine & glx? Red book as you said was unrealiable with prices but lists the alpine as being the cheaper option when new but had more standard features.
Thanks
I have never heard of an alpine.
I know of 2 for sale at the moment in Sydney.
1. In Blacktown is Green, roof paint is faded, but goes well. 5 speed manual 1995 model $2000
2. In Campbelltown is Purple, one dent in rear door, otherwise nice 5 speed manual with new head gasket and timing belt and Feb 08 Rego $2500 1995 Model
Let me know if interested and I`ll give you details of the sellers.

Hey belle.
I don't know how much you want to spend.
I just bought my Cordoba on Saturday.
Here's a link to a nice one in Sydney. I would've looked at it had it been in Brisbane. Very nice!....

thanks seanyq, i hadn't actually looked on drive.com.au for a while.
I think im going to have to fly to sydney to look at cordobas, they always seem to have more than anywhere else for sale. Maybe i can make it coinside with a swans game!?
Golf loon says he knows of 2 on the cheaper side of things so that could be good also!
Belle
Hey belle,
I was just presuming you're from Sydney.
Where abouts are you?
