    Cold start up issue

Okay I am not sure if I am being paranoid...... when I start the car up after it has being sitting overnight it turns over but when you give it some pedal it just cuts out.... You do that 2 or three times and then starts up fine and you have no problems for the rest of the day. Talked to the previous owner and he seems to think its normal. I changed the spark plugs this morning and hasn't made much of a difference. I done plenty of research on the countless forums and I haven't got a definite answer.

    Thanks

You should check your fuel pressure ---- may have a leaky fuel pressure regulator

Locate the fuel pump relay and work out how to jump it. So the pump runs constantly. Then try starting, see how it goes. I wonder if the pressure is dropping overnight and the pump isn't priming enough for a start.

Okay thanks for the quick reply..... After a bit of research testing fuel pressure reg is something I should be able to do. Do you think I should be checking leads and dist cap as well.

is the pump priming as soon as you get lights on the dash (on position?). Its quite loud

Yeah pretty sure its priming on start up.... Just doesn't get that second kick that keeps it idling. Went to repco today to buy a fuel injection pressure tester but $500 just isnt worth it. Im thinking of just buying the fuel pressure regulator and taking the chance that it will fix it.
