Red face Buying a used Cordoba

    Hey everyone,

I am happy I stumbled across your message board. I am looking at purchasing a '96 Cordoba with 130kilometers for about $2500 which I think is quite reasonable. I still have to go test drive it, but it is in immaculate condition.

Anyhow, I'm a student from the US, over here in WA so I'm on a fair bit of a budget and don't know much about how things work over here. What are we talking for annual upkeep on this? Is it going to be any worse off (amount wise) than what I would spend repairing a 1992 mazda 626 with more k's on it?

    regards,

    .j

p.s. I'm hoping the answer is that I should take this deal because I left my VW Passat back in the states and I thoroughly miss it
..and if there are any recommendations for a service station over near Perth that would be cool to have.

    welcome to the forum buddy!

From what I've heard Corodobas are pretty good. bascially just a VW without the badge, so it should be pretty good.

The older mazda, while not actually that old, but they aren't the best of cars. The tend to blow smoke as the get older, due often to poor maintainance. although, they are bound to anyways really.

sounds like a good price too for the corodoba. With a positive test drive and some good vibes from it, it'd get my thumbs up.

anyways, thats just my two cents!

Is it an auto? I`d get a manual in a heartbeat, but the autos are prone to fail. Its a golf Mk3 with cheapo trim. Good cars. The later ones have 2 airbags and are worth more, early cars have no airbags and middle range ones only have one. Later cars have different bumper etc too.

Joe at Golfwagen should be able to service it for you.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah it's a manual and has dual airbags. I appreciate the tip on service for it as well. Now, it'll just be a matter of how well it drives and then getting my $$ wired over here.
