    Brake test

Coming home from work today I had to use every bit of braking ability that the cupra has!!! I was approaching an intersection in Richmond with an L plater making a right turn at the green light with opposite turning traffic as well, so i moved to left lane & as I came up beside the L plater at about 60k I saw movement to my right in the intersection.

I hit the brake pedal as hard as I could & felt the ABS straight away, I stopped in the middle of the intersection with a teenage boy, side facing baseball cap on about 1 meter in front of the drivers head light. He's mate who I hadn't seen was next to my drivers door!

The nose didn't dip ( not that i noticed )with the new coilovers fitted & the car stopped on a dime.

I think I was very lucky not to two morons down, I call them morons because instead of crossing with the lights they were running diagonally across a main intersection that had turning traffic & me!

It took about an hour for me to calm down after I got home & then I realised how lucky I really was, how much damage would two teenagers have done to my car !!!

just goes to show what 4 wheel discs can do in a car that weights 980kg. I think its disgusting that new cars (e.g mazda 2) have drums on the rear. Comon people this is 2008!

Your lucky that you didnt get any damage, I think I would have been more worried about my car

Had my cupra on a weighbridge once, an surprisingly it tipped the scales over

1100kgs with half a tank of fuel no back seats. And no i dont weigh 150kilos.

Theyve got great breaks an have saved my skin more than once or twice.

Glad to hear nobody was hurt Phil

Glad to hear every one (car included) came out OK.

When I was a wee tacker I had an altercation with a Suzuki Mighty Boy when I was on my 3 wheel trike.

Let's just say - the little Mighty Boy won't try and steal candy from a kid again. It came off worse than I did (3 stiches!).

they have drums because theya re cheap...and let me tell you the rear hardly does anything. thats why they are small. 2 sets of front pads to one set of rear...
