Same parent company..Same design and development costs..Same platform. Are labour costs in Czech. and Spain that much lower?Originally Posted by william
cheaper interior less components as a gti eg airbags control units a cheaper version and seat are always priced cheaper than the established vw here and in the uk
getting to the point i imagine they would be as seat is a company that is funded by a nation building vehicles to keep profits in house and labour rates are much different in europe to what they are here as for manufacture vw has many more manufacturing plants so the costs would be colosal compared to two smaller plants thats what i believe anyway. this is from the seat website
Volkswagen received the troublesome Spanish car maker from Fiat in the mid-80s. In the Fiat-era,SEAT was using its cheap labour to produce low price cars with poor build quality] even worse than Fiat. Volkswagen spent many years and money into SEAT to upgrade its build quality and image. After struggling for more than a decade, SEAT has eventually started to shine. SEAT wants to establish a young and exciting image like Alfa Romeo. This is helped by the service of ex-Alfa design boss Walter de Silva, who shaped 156. The beautiful new Altea and Leon Mk2 show a bright future for SEAT.

Yes. The Germans use the cheap labour in poor European countries to keep costs down. Lots of spanish stuff is made in Portugal for the same reason. Also the product has already been developed, they just make it cheaper in another countryOriginally Posted by brackie

oh bugatti thats the stuff that w16 the quickest vw ever
As far as Soda been like a vw, I think its far from it, when I was overseas, my cosine had a skoda Octavia, sure it looked like a Vw and it was a vw, but the actual quality of the car was not there, as to a vw. The cars felt like a Toyota. Maybe that’s VW’s answer to a Toyota.
