95 Cordoba Tacho and Speedo problem

    Hi all

I have seen a couple of discussions regarding problems with the tacho and speedo only working intermittently. My son and I are attempting to get our tacho and speedo working. We have pulled the instrument cluster out and checked connectivity from speed sensor to plug which is ok. Can anyone suggest any tests, fixes for this problem? Any assistance would help my sanity.

Thankyou for your reply and apologies for the time taken to reply. I have performed a test on the circuit board and have discovered a possible solution. Just waiting on a part from the US, however will utilise your offer if my solution does not work. Thankyou again

    Good evening all
I now have a working speedo and tacho. The speedo stepper motor had blown which is in series with the tacho. I sourced an after market stepper motor from the USA (original requires a purchase of 100 units). In addition I also discovered that a VW Polo MK III (UK model mph outer with km inner) has a similar instrument cluster, however does not have the fog light indicator lamp. All in all instrument cluster now works and all is well. Thankyou karmen for the offer and response. We will now move on to sourcing an AC compressor, gearshift relay selector rod plastic and bushes.

Hi Abaz12, That is an impressive fix. My daughter's 96 Cordoba had just started to have intermittent speedo/tacho problems. How did you diagnose the fault? Where did you source the stepper motor from?
