    Nah, it's more like a Golf 4 1.6L.

Not many of them around in this specification.

Crossflow head as opposed to counterflow ..still only 8 valves.
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

Good engine that. Only 20 sold in oz. Uses a Mk3 bottom end and 8v gearbox, much better than the polo unit and a 1.6 crossflow head. More like an american ABA engine. Was only 1.6L and made the same power as the 2L Ibiza GTI engine. I have a hankering to put that head on a 2L bottom end and watch it fly.

thats what I have in my workshop waiting to go into my mk1 rocco. Got a 2E bottom end that I want to slap the crossflow head on and hang a set of dellortos off the front. Should be good for around 140hp or so from what ive read. Not chasing rocket ship status. Just something that makes all the right noises and has enough stick to move the rocco along nicely. Should look nice in the engine bay too!
