    Windscreen Wipers resting position

    Hi Guys,
Got my car back from service and noticied that my wipers now sit high up in the bottom part of windscreen.

Is that normally there, I swear I never noticed them that high before.

Silly question, but did they replace the wiper arm or anything? I had mine replaced a while ago and they apparently had the wiper sitting higher than it should have when they tightened it. Could be that.

Not at all. Well nothing in the job sheet asked for that to be done.

Its distracting and takes away from some of the view.

    Did they lower your one?

Easily fixed, just take off the 13mm nut, give it a jiggle and reposition. If your in Melbourne I can do it for you if you take a trip.

Yeah I took it back and they fixed it up for me. With the Mk5 GTI the wipers sit high until you put it in D from N, R, or P and then they move down and hide under the bonnet. Not sure if the R's or Mk6s do that.

on my mk6 GTI, the wiper will move down when the car is started if required. The wiper parks itself in a different position when the car is switched off. Sometimes high, sometimes low.

VWs have a feature where the position changes each time you start the car. This is to prevent the rubber sticking to the windscreen if they are not used for a while. If you readjust them thinking something may be too high, you could end up with them being too low for the mechanism when they automatically adjust.
