  1. #11

RE050A's from Bryan byrt.. nothing wrong with them, a friend with a 135 went from these to super sports and says they are in another class of grip.

    tire rack shipped for 1350.

For the 19" potenza owners...what tyre pressure are you pumping em at? I went cold to the servo and went to pump mine at 36psi aspect the side panel...and saw on the meter that it read 40psi all round...
    Any ideas?

What does the sticker on the fuel flap say?

IIRC, it's 38 psi (cold) front and rear (normal load), but you can leave them at 40 psi if you wish.

advice from a garage was to go to 40psi cold.. specially on our low profiles.

    Thanks for the replies!
Feel a little bit better now knowing its ok at around the 38-40psi mark. Was starting to get worried as scirocco central guys posted around the 33psi mark in older posts for their 19s.
    Cheers and ride on!!!!

33 psi (2.3 bar) is for 18" tyres on the Scirocco R.

38 psi (2.6 bar) is for 19" tyres on the Scirocco R.

Non-R versions have different tyre pressures again.

At the VW driver education day both the instructors (racing drivers) and the VW tech support team were saying ~38 psi for 18" and 19"
This gives good turn in feel and can increase tyre life/mileage

I was quoting the factory specs.

But there's no reason why one can't adjust the pressures to suit one's needs (full load, track days, different ride or handling response/feel, etc).

However, on public roads, it's never advisable to go below the factory specs. Or above the tyre's maximum inflation pressure (as stated on the sidewall).

Yes mate, understood, I was not having a go at your post

It's a good point about increasing tyre pressure for full load
I doubt many people do this but it's clearly detailed on my car (wagon)

No worries, just wanted to clarify/emphasise the source of the figures to avoid any potential/further confusion.
