Stick it on a dyno or go drive a car that is guaranteed stock and you'll know pretty much straight away.
I know of a few people that have traded cars in with tunes on and everyone just turns a blind eye to it.

Hi all,
So I recently purchased a 2012 scirocco and was talking to a friend who previously owned audi rs3 which turned out not to be stage 1 tuned when he was led to believe it was.
We got thinking, what are some clear indicators or features that would indicate a VW has been tuned? Would the ability to go past a certain rev range or similar provide an indication the ECU has been modified ??
It may seem like a strange question I know, however when I traded in my previous car which was a mazda 3 mps. The fact that it had an ECUTEK tune was never came up when trading in the car so as a result the new buyer would be none the wiser it had spent significant time on the dyno.
