Interesting that you mention the cruise control issue. I have that from time to time. I mentioned it at the last service but they couldn't find anything wrong. I'll be sure to mention it again next time now knowing that it is a legit thing.

Yes. It only happened occasionally but was more annoying than anything. The only way you’re going to get any traction on the issue is to take it in while the car is in fault and get them to put it straight on the computer.

The problem is that as soon as you turn off the ignition and turn it back on the fault goes away. So they need to be able to run the diagnostics while the fault is occurring.

It took me 6 months to get the problem sorted but now (touch wood) it seems to be fixed with a new steering wheel control module.

I was also having problems with my windows and that turned out to be a faulty battery (one cell had died). I thought the cruise control may have been related but it has done it again a couple of times since replacing the battery. Next time it does it hopefully I'm within cooee of a VW dealership!

Awesome build Tigger! I'm starting to see a peak stage 2 number of 221kw being a common theme. That stage 1 dyno of 204 seemed pretty high though!

Loving all the additions you've done, did you feel much difference after the R8 coilpacks? also the lower control arms?

When I ran 205kwaw with stage 1 (ECU and DSG) there were quite a few people left scratching their heads as low 200's used to be the "standard" for stage 2. A number of tuners have kept developing the files for Mk6 R/Scirocco R and these days mid-220's is what you'd be looking at for a good stage 2 file. Of course as always usual disclaimers about dyno dependent numbers and some being harder to please than others so best to get a stock run done on the dyno for comparison or run against other cars for relative comparison.

R8 coil packs are just for under-bonnet bling plus a bit more reliability. There's no change in performance. Stock coils under higher load have been known to be a weak link/fail so I changed these out as a preventative measure.

Lower control arms are good. Keeps the front a bit more planted which helps to get the power down. Though you're ultimately still limited by traction and how much power you can put through the front wheels. Turn-in is definitely more solid feeling and more direct. Having said that my wife (who is going to be using the Scirocco as her daily now) is not a big fan of the heavier steering and so I'm pulling these out next week and going back to stock

Just had the Scirocco major service completed at Haines Mechanical & Detail. Car has done just under 45,000km so not technically due for another 15,000km but given the car is tuned I like to be ahead of the scheduled maintenance interval.

Included engine oil & filter using Liqui Moly 5W-30, DSG fluid and filter, cabin filter, fuel filter, brake fluid replacement plus replaced the HPFP cam follower (for good measure) and changed the lower control arms back to stock.

My wife is going to be running this car as her daily driver for the next couple of years and wanted the steering back to stock as the Superpro ALK does make for a heavier feel.

Service even came with a complimentary wash and photo shoot....

Wife is driving the Scirocco and in the last 2 months she’s managed to get 2 flat tyres.

The latest attempt has a collection of 3 nails:

And the kicker is that 2 of the punctures are too close to patch and now need to replace 2 tyres... Tigger73's Scirocco R

Had the handle for the seat rail fail today. VW is saying it’s not covered under warranty...

Well the dealership wanted me to buy the part through spare parts but VW Customer Care has come to the party and going to replace the handle as a 1-off.
