The first couple of Scirocco R reviews are out, sounds like a great car, can't wait to have a go in one.

Is it the new daddy of mega-hot hatchbacks? On raw thrills alone, no. But as an overall package, the Scirocco R is some way clear of any rivals at this price point. And that includes the Focus RS.
says it all really - its funny when stupid people bang on about numbers and which car is faster here or there, but VW just dont build cars like that - the point of it is that its damned good, considering all the benefits you get to live with every day, compared with something more "out and out".

i'm glad vw do things this way.

its like when the mk4 r32 came out, and people would talk about how its 0-100 was so much slower than evo's and sti's and other 4wd small cars... but vw clearly werent concerned about it as a marketing point, since you have to change into 3rd to get to 100km/h in a stock mk4 r32.... all the other 'comparison cars' at the time would just get htere in 2nd...

interesting comment "On balance, we'd prefer this to the added weight of lugging around a 4wd system"

There could not be a better time or place for a world premiere: parallel to the start of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, Volkswagen is presenting the new Scirocco R for the first time anywhere. A sports car without compromise and a race track that demands everything of the driver will be meeting together this weekend.
