Lightbulb RNS 510 swap ... yet another thread

    Hi All,

I have try to search and seems couldn't found the answer I am looking for ...

I would like to swap out the RCD510 to a RNS510, Just wondering what version is the one that VW supplied to our Scirocco? and would the original bluetooth kit work with RNS 510?

Did any of you done this swap?

    Thanks in advance.

Any of the RNS 510 units will work in the Scirocco and will link straight up with factory bluetooth....VDUB..

    We swapped out the RCD510 with a RNS510 in a Golf R
The most complicated task was positioning and wiring the GPS antenna
Otherwise is was a piece of cake (you need VCDS to make the coding changes of course)

With the Rocco's standard antenna - does that work for GPS? so no need for wiring a GPS antenna?

No, you'll need a 'puck' type GPS antenna (most sellers will supply this with the RNS) or retrofit the sharkfin antenna with GPS.
The first option is the one most people take as it is very easy and provides perfectly acceptable GPS reception.

But if nav wasn't fitted from factory then it will be the antenna type without GPS.
