Apr stage 1 won't change the early up shift, that's the stock dsg tune. Not a fan of early up shifts either but I figure vw engineers did it for a good reason ? Economy maybe ?

I came to know from APR that there is a DSG tune can probably fix this up - the DSG data will be uploaded to Germany and gets tuned over there and send back here to reprogram it the next day.

I would probably be inclined to agree with you on early up shift is for economic reason, I am not 100% sure whether it is OK for the gearbox to stay on low rpm (1500) to power the car, feel the car is very sluggish - is that where the "deep" sound comes from?, but I guess this all really depend on how much accelerator I give, difficult to do much in a busy traffic though - so I decided to override with paddle shift, it actually sometimes gives me some manual transmission feeling
