Thread: Really bad fuel consumption

    Really bad fuel consumption

I had my scirocco for just on one month now and noticed the fuel consumption is terrible. From the mfd It is averaging 11-14 liters per 100km with a full tank of petrol showing 450km distance to empty! drivin is mostly urban. Official figures should be around 8L/100km

By comparison my r32 used to show 550km on a full tank and similar liters per 100km and in some cases better. Seems strange that r32 is awd and bigger engine.

Can someone please share their fuel consumption figures.

It will get slightly better with time.

I started at about 10.3 and now regularly get 9.9 (reading the MFD 2 averages)

The brochure lists urban fuel consumption at 11.3 l/100km, so your figures seem normal to me.

I'm showing 12.1 l/100km . That is over 1200km but very little cruise in that aside from a few trips to Melbourne airport and the pick up from Geelong. I haven't tried to be economical nor have i been blasting about.

I averaged - in similar circumstances - 14.9 l/100km in the 135i. With the BMW tank holding just 50 litres I already feel i'm spending less time on Shell forecourts filling up with V power!

Seems like mine isn't so bad then. I was expecting better compared to r32 and not similar.

The official urban fuel consumption figure for the Mk5 R32 is 15.0 l/100km (or 13.2 l/100km for the DSG), so either your driving conditions have changed, or the engine in your Scirocco has yet to be fully run-in, or both.

I'm just surprised you guys even worry about it, you have to put fuel in the thing anyway so drive it like you stole it and enjoy the ride

    You don't buy a Scirocco R for it's parsimony!

I'm sure the OP was just checking his fuel consumption is within normal parameters.
