Had a bit of time recently to get this baby hapenning.

Finally finished off the pedal box and steering colum. Had to custom make and modify a few thing. Its now virtually a Mk3 setup, acellerator pedal goes along the bulkhead on a rolling beam and comes out on the passenger side. Means I can use a nice short throttle cable and it will be a standard VW one, not a custom jobbie.

Brake booster is in properly and brake lines are connected up.

Motor and Box have been mated together with an uprated clutch and pirtek made me a couple of custom hoses for the Turbo oil return. Engine is ready to go in.

Got a schweet intercooler from ebay, looks the muts nuts.

Too dark for pics today. Gonna have a tidy of the engine bay and then a trial fit of the motor really soon.

    I`m excited.

Pics of assembled engine with my custom water piping to change it from a longtidudinally mounted Audi engine to a transverse setup.

Just gotta put that in here

And finally after some swearing and wrestling, its in.

Heaps left to connect and a modified shift linkage to make, but ITS IN!

    Well done.

    just for interests sake.

What's it take to fit one of these in? In physical terms, ie engine mounts etc

You need an early 1.8T block from a Passat or Audi A4 for a Mk1, as it has the boltholes for the Mk1 Engine Mt. Use a Diesel or GTI Mount.

You can use the later motors in a Mk2 or 3 as they use different brackets.

All piping is a challenge and is unique to each car.

Ben Leech has an almost complete conversion guide.
