    Ideas Ideas Ideas

    Hey Guys,

well I have had my rocco for long enough (5 months lol) and want more! God i love this car!

Wanting to give it a little more of an aggressive stance though so I am seeking peoples opinions and help.

I currently have 20" wheels with 245 wide tyres, and am wanting to go back to 19's i think.

Reason? I want it lower and think 19's will handle better from experience with previous cars.

    So, my questions are:

    1) What width 19" wheel and what offset to fill the guard nicely without the requirement for any guard work.
    2) what size tyre should I look at (I will be going a street semi like an R888 ) how wide etc.
    3) lowering... I really like the standard setup with the adjustable in cabin controls is great for some of queenslands amazing roads (said no one ever) so am thinking starting with just lowering springs. I know KW do complete replacements, but this might be something I look at in the future.

Really loving it, many many comments and compliments from passers by!

    Look forward to your imput!

    Mitch.

Why don't you bring it out to happy laps to see what it was made for?

wheel size to fill the guards in 19's would be 9.5" wide et35 with 265/30/19 rubber

this is Kevs car a member here with that size wheels tyre and lowered on kw dcc

i went 8.5 wide et35 and using 255/30/19 tyre which still fills the guard nicely i think

It really depends on what you are wanting to achieve... by going with R888 it sounds like you are more interested in handling than anything else in which case 18's would be the better option... certainly for track days and less likely to damage rims on those wonderful Qld roads.
19's certainly look more aggressive and you can run some pretty wide tyres...I have 10 inch wide rears wearing 265x30x19 continental boots at the rear and have not had a single scrape.
Wheels are just too subjective... I would however suggest that you seriously investigate going with the KW DCC set-up. It is leaps and bounds better than just lowering... you can get the stance you want perfectly without compromise and when set-up the right way... will provide better ride and handling than stock or lowered with just springs...

    Just my $0.02 worth...

I appreciate your 2c worth! every little bit adds upto an informed decision!

I would be super happy with 9.5x19 I still want it to look angry (not that it needs much!)

I was primarily thinking the R888 for cosmetic reasons (it looks the best for the street semi's ) but is still very functional as well!

    so many decisions haha

I am very open to suggestions for wheels - i do really like those wheels shown though (I want to be somewhat different) HRE P40sc..... why so expensive!!

Rotiform make some nice styles wheels in a similar size to what you want

Specifically SNA's and BLQ's (BLQ's are definitely available in 9.5 wide.)

Keep an eye on the events section for happy laps.

Further question - how firm is the ride with the KW DCC? It isnt obviously damper and rebound adjustable? would it be worth looking at different spring rates? How low will it actually go?

If you go for the set-up with the iphone app you certainly can individually adjust each corner for bump and re-bound, I am not sure about how they are adjusted without the app but in the Modern Motor Tuner challenge there were several Golf R's with KW DCC and they all rode and handled differently.
The Golf R I rode in when in Brisbane checking out the APR RSC exhaust had a wonderful ride and very impressive handling.

The real benefit you get with coil-overs is spring travel is not compromised by having to shorten it to get the ride height correct.
Kevin (Rev555) has the KW DCC kit on his matte grey Roc.. its stance is perfect and if you ask him he will give you an honest response as to the every day livability of the KW's
