Forge vs. VWR Intake for Rocco

Hi All,

Im kinda torn between the above 2 options. Any Rocco owners installed either one of these (or both by some sheer luck) and can coment??

Also, any good place in Melbourne (preferably North) I can get these installed and any idea roughly how much im looking at??

Have an imported 1.4TSI 160 btw so specs in comparison to the R are certainly diff.

I got the VWR intake fitted, no complaints. In the north I reckon that workshop in airport west is a good option - the name escapes me right now but they're an APR dealer so check APR website should be able to find them easily.
There's been a bit of debate on here about the two intakes I dare say either is a good option with the forge being more reasonably priced.

i wish i could mate... just ain't very handy and previous experiences have proven more of a hazard than anything

The FORGE TWINtake uses blue drift filters that are dry filters which mean they won't cause any problems with your MAF like an oiled filter MAY. I stress that may part because I've seen a few people go down the past of VWR and other oiled intakes and have MAF & Fuel Trim issues. I'm sure others have had no issues though. No one has reported any fuel trim issues with the TWINtake that I've ever seen. It also gives a much beefier Intake sound than the VMR. Not to take away from the VWR as it does give a nice sound, but I've heard both (own the TWINtake) and I think it's better. It's also a lot more eye candy than the VWR one and won't cost you $900.

Thanks Deadpool, been youtubing heaps and am also leaning towards Forge (cost as a motivator as well). I see you are based in Melbourne, am still trying to suss around for a good place to get installs done. Can you advise where you got your installed??

I'd recommend DubAddiction to get it installed if you're not going to do it yourself.

I have used both and have had no issues - I have the VWR intake now on my Scirocco as it was part of my tuners kit.

The twin take is definitely noisier but the finish is good and fitment is good.

Biggest gripe of the VWR intake is that it doesn't come with a Heat Shield!

Fitting is easy but best done when engine is cold. When fitting the TWIN take make sure you put the filters in the right direction of air flow intake and not vice versa.

Yep, and as an added bonus there's little arrows telling you the direction the air should be flowing on the canisters if you're really confused.

lol... and i can assure you with all the warning signs, i'd still mess it up.

do you guys in melb ever meet up? probably the odd one out considering im rolling in a 1.4TSI but would still be awesome to meet fellow rocco owners (particularly those whose done mods to their cars!).

have also been shopping around for a cat back kit and found an awesome sounding kit from supersport... not mainstream like the militek or eisenmann but it sure does sound awesome... on the topic of exhausts, is it recommended (in your opinion) to go with a cat back thats prefabricated from a known brand or getting it custom made at a decent exhaust is the same??
