Brand new car with strange smoke coming out of the exhaust.

We have just today got a new Scirocco (50 k's), has anyone else noticed some white smoke coming from the exhaust, after normal driving, and the car is idling?

I hope that I am worried about nothing.

If all your levels are normal don't worry about it.

Don't go looking for problems, just enjoy the car.

it can happen in new cars that they smoke a bit when new. there are a few bits of sealants and coatings etc that burn off a bit and the exhaust itself when new smokes a bit. having said that there was no smoke at all out of our rocco when new (think it had 35kms on it when we picked it up) and no somoke since either. just check the oil, keep an eye on engine temps but otherwise enjoy the car. if it gets worse take it to a dealer. white smoke though is generally something burning off, not oil burning or an engine problem. they will usually be grey, blue or even browny smoke.

Yes you might get some burning tyep smells too. Don't be too alarmed as it probably some sealants, errant paint or paper stickers left on some hot bits
