The EA113 engine as found in the Mk6 Golf R and Scirocco R uses a timing belt. But, what often confuses people is that the timing belt only drives 1x camshaft, so on the other side of the engine it has a timing chain which connects the 2x camshafts.
Hi all, like the title states, Does the scirocco R have a Timing belt or chain ? Cheers

Ah okay, all makes sense now, big mixture of information online with these. Does that timing belt also run the water pump?
Awesome, thankyou for the info, the one I just bought will be due then
Yeah its probably a good idea to get it done soonish so you know everything is up to date and start your baseline of maintenance from there during your ownership. You could always pop the cover off and just do a quick visual inspection of the belt to get an idea of how its going......hopefully no obvious signs of cracking or other deterioration.
