    Exclamation 1980s VW Motorsport TwinJet Jetta & Scirocco BiMotos Prototypes (56K Warning)

    In the early 1980s when Audi Sport & VW Motorsport were competing against each other to get there Special Vehicles approved for limited production and Rally/Circuit Racing, Audi leading with there Audi Quattro in the Rally versions and Production versions.

    Under Klaus-Peter Rosorius VW Motorsport then started to experiment with two engined prototypes with FWD, RWD or AWD configuration.

    The 1st of these prototypes being the Jetta TwinJet Study powered by two 110bhp/81kW GTI/GLI engines one at the front under the bonnet and one in the boot(trunk) which combined gave 220bhp/160kW @ 6100rpm.

    The 2nd prototype was based on the Scirocco powered by two 1.8 180bhp/130Kw combined thats 360bhp/264kW which gave the Scirocco a 0-62mph/0-100 km/h time of 4.6secs & 14.1secs to reach 180km/h / 111mph from standstill.

    The 3rd and final prototype before the Pikes Peak Golf (Type 1G aka A2) Challenger was yet another Scirocco with 1.8 141bhp/103Kw with up to 210to 220bhp posiible from each engine.
    The second Scirocco BiMoto had a 0-62mph/0-100 km/h time of 4.1secs & 106mph in 11.9 secs.

    Hey Ben,

    One up on you this time (get you back from that Touareg / Tarek thing )

    Sat in the twin engined monster when I was in Germany - you can see by the sticker on the side window who was the development partner!

    yep, and the engines - not a bad order eh? ve are building two carz, but ve need four engines please!

    They used the Oettinger 16 valve heads & thos cool Oettinger intake manifolds!
