Your thoughts on 20mm poke and adaptors

for mk2's to do what Loon suggested you can take a couple of ratty old mk1 rear drum stub axles and get the stub machined off, you are then left with an 11mm stub axle spacer with the perfect holes as per the factory. I'm not sure if the rear stub axle pattern would be similar on mk1+2 to mk3??? anyone??

I had two bot-on 20mm spacers made up a while ago, if you want to buy them you can; I'm not sure where Lorenz has seen custom made spacers for $50? mine cost 140ea . . . though i wouldnt charge you that! lmk

Wheel Worx here in Adelaide can do them for that price. Normally $120 a pair, but cheaper for me!

i just put 12mm stub axel spacers on my mk3, with my 16x7.5 rims and 205/45 tyres.....et35 it scrubs a bit.... its lowered 45mm at the back.

with the guards rolled (read - "hammered") i reckon it wouldnt scrub easily.


the stubb axel spacer isnt hard to make, you dont need to sacrifice old mk1 stubs either. you do need to have a weird shape though, because on the mk3 you usually have the abs sensor to get in the way. the bolt pattern on the stub is the same in mk1/2 and 3.

I was thinking of trying the old heat gun and rubber mallet job, dunno if that'll work? Maybe just get the Dremel out

It'd be much better if you measure it out on your car - look from straight above the fender and see where 20mm sits against the wheel. My guess would be that the fronts will poke very little (not very noticeable), but the rears will be fine OK (slight tuck). 205 tyres on a 7" might not give you the clearance on the front, and you'll probably rub on dips and bumps. If I were to space them out, I would use 10-15mm on the front and 20mm on the back.
