    windows down using remote

    i was playing around with the remote trying to unlock the rear hatch when all of a sudden the windows all went down...

    dont know how i did it, they wouldnt go back up till i got in an turned ign on and used the switches to go up...

    whats that all about????

    Its a thing you can do with your OBD port. Have to ask some of the pros but apparently you can change the settings on the cars ECU to do stuff like open windows when you hold the unlock button down (my mk5 does it as well) or have all the windows go up when you lock it. My sunroof closes when you tack the keys out which is kinda annoying because its good to leave open on a hot day. Then again, safe for rain.

    I would assume its just from holding down the button, same as locking it with the key an holding it

    unless some idiot played with the settings on only enabled one or the other.

    in a MK4 - it has to be programmed with a BIT converter and Serial to OBD2 dongle and German DOS-Boot CD and special application.
    in a MK5 - Plug in VCDS it either enabled/disabled from CECM or from Can-Gateway from memory. It's been too long since I played with this specific changes on the MK5.
