    Window regulator vs motor....

My passenger window is temperamental at best, sometime it works sometimes it doesn't (with either the drivers or passenger switch)... would this be more likely the motor than the regulator as it still works on occasions?

How do you test each of these components to see which one it is?

regulator.... or even maybe the window rubbers and check and see if the window is going up flush or on an angle, or grab the window in your hands and see if it moves around.

Check the wiring as well. Pull back the rubber bellow between the door and body and have a look to see if the wires are not frayed.
    Have fixed one like that.
