    Smile I want a new one

    My shifter is old and gay...

    Has anyone done anything DIY to spice it up a bit, or are there reasonable-cost alternatives like a nice momo knob and a leather boot off ebay or something?

    What have you guys got, and what might you suggest (Pics and prices)? I'm basically looking for something clean-looking...brushed aluminium, black leather, easy

    Mine was looking old and ghey as well, and it didn't feel right because of the frayed leather.

    I bought a black plastic golf ball from TM Tuning and then a boot from the old shifter. Then I used a black rubber band - the one from the original shifter - and it looks great.

    The only problem I have is that the shifter moved around a lot initially and actually came off in my hand a couple of times. But a bit of super glue and it's pretty good. Although, the seperate thread piece broke, so super glue again!

    But I'll be looking for an aluminium version soon. Hopefully no movement then.

    Yeah I've done a little bit to my current boot, but even the boot looks like crap now.

    I got a leather boot from Ebay, really good quality and an excellent fit at an excellent price from this dude;

    Also installed an Isotta leather knob from a dude called Crowder Customizing in the US, he has an ebay shop, pretty good prices, nice result I think.

    Cheers Simon I think I might just grab one of those boots now!

    How much was the Isotta knob?

    i got an isotta gearknob which was bout $150ish, i got a normal black boot from super cheap but its abit big, i think i remember seeing on US ebay a chrome outer with a black boot attatched to it, which i think you just screw it to that little plastic over hang in the middle of the dash

    Isotta knob from crowder was about AUD$90 shipped IIRC. Prolly a bit more now with exchange rate. The boot I linked you to is tailor made with elastic bottom, just slips on, easy as pie and fits really well.

    dont buy momo, i bought one ages ago and i wore through the leather AND the metal top with just my palms, once i was through the painted (i think) silver top the metal started rubbing off and blackening my hand! My advice would be to get a billet knob . . . .

    I had my stock knob wrapped in matching leather when I got the steering wheel done and I love it
    (Should get the boot done one day too, although I wouldn't mind getting the whole car re-done in matching style, but that's a few grand more than I have)
