    Window Probs - VR

I went out last night and left the VR at a mates place.
His dad moved it so he could get out.
Anyway, when i went to get stuff out, i noticed the drivers rear window was open. I had the motor/reg/cable mechanism replaced about 2 weeks ago.
I brought it home so i could get out of ther rain and get some light (about 4 this morning). Got the window up.
Woke up this morning and that window is still up, but the other 3 are now down. I cna hear the switches flicking, when trying to "wind down" further, however nothing when i want to go up.

Have searched mk3 section/googled to find fuse/relay diagrams to try and fix this but to no avail...

    Any ideas?
    Much appreciated

Wow dude, sounds like a bad case of the curse of the mk3's. Are you saying your window regs/motors are in working order, but they just move when they feel like it?

Haha yeah. The benz has only just got running again. $200 for a new battery argh!. IT was out of action, and then now the VR *sheds tear...

Well yeah. I have no idea what is going on. Have the bentley manual on order. Searched here and vortex last night looking for fuse/relay diagrams etc

Seems that number 14 (reverse lights) is also for power windows. It is not blown. And the relay is behind the intrusion bar under the steering column and i can't get at it to get a decent look. Let alone work out which relay is which as the numbers mean squat atm.

She will hopefully be looked at on tueesday when i head into newy.

I also disconnected/reconnected the battery, thinking i may "reset" something (As I still have no idea what is up (so to speak)).
The one window that was up, decided to go down. Won't go back up either.

If you put the key in the drivers lock and hold it in the lock position, do the windows go back up?

Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

    RE: Electric Windows.

When I got the driver's rear window reg/motor assembled replaced about a month ago, the shop I used (who have been very good in the past) used a non genuine item. It looks like they had to make a harness to mate the generic assembly, to the VW wiring.

From here they didn't mount the harness, so it sat inside the door. As water was running on the outside of the windows, down into the door, through the door drains, it has corroded the harness causing "intermittent" short circuits.

I had another shop in Newcastle look at it, and they worked out what was wrong.

    Problem solved.
