no it wont
As the title asks......
I recently bought an OEM S3 gear knob with the hope of putting it on my VR6 (seller said it would fit) but unfortunately it is not compatible. I reckon the MK4 GTI gear knob would look good, but I don't know if it will fit.
no it wont
Theres a guide on the vortex as to how to do it. Whether its accurate or not i dont know.
The shaft sizes are different . Its not going to be a straight bolt on unless you cut off your mk3 shifter shaft and weld on a mk4 one . If it was bolt on I would have used the R32 one I had laying around to replace my VR6 one . The R32 pedals can be made to work on VR6 if your patient enough![]()
is it that the diameter of the shafts are not the same? if it is smaller you could bore it out couldnt you?
\'95 Golf VR6
ive heard of a few americans doing this conversion. I think the solution is to tap a thread into the mk4 gearknob.
But i reckon itd be more hassle than its worth with all the nice aftermarket knobs available. Go the oldschool golfball knob. u know u wanna!
Thanks for the replies guys! I reckon the best option will be to go with a universal knob. The stock VR6 one has a good weight and feel, but mine is bright green (Colour Concept) and it looks awful (seats and all black leather). I have a new gaiter, just need a nice weighty knob to finish it off. I had an old Razo one on there but it looks a bit ricey and it is too light since I put the short shifter in. Any suggestions?? I don't want to spend too much.....
