I'd be very skeptical. There are usually good reasons items like this are relatively cheap ... and the main one is that they usually don't work.
The four most recognised (trusted) chip makers for VAG vehicles would be (not in any particular order):
1. Oettinger;
2. APR;
3. GIAC; and
4. REVO.
You will hear fores and against for each of these brands ... but the main thing to remember is that they have all put in large amounts of research money to arrive at their respective programs. I'm not sure if any of them do anything for the VR6 ... but then ... reflashing the chip of a normally aspirated car tends to not give as much of a benefit as reflashing a turboed vehicle.
Of course ... the final decision remains with you ... but I'd remember the old Latin saying: Caveat Emptor - "Let the Buyer Beware."
