heres an old post from me that describes my findings on a trip to sydney and back

ok! i kept all my fuel receipts on my recent trip to sydney and reset the MFA when i set off from melb and refueled when i got home.

    distance travelled: 2100kms
    litres of petrol used: 181

    Fuel consumed per 100kms: 8.62L

This was combined city and hwy driving. with the aircon on at least 50% of the way. If it wasnt on the sunroof was open. I reckon its possible to do under 8L/100kms given some nice flat road.

Funnily enuf when i got home the MFA had estimated my fuel usage at 8.7L/100Kms. so it was really extremely accurate.

I did notice that the mk3 cruise control loves to give it a bit of a bootful. At one stage i accidently hit resume in a lower gear and it scared the **** out of me hehe. But yeah. not the most fuel efficient cruise Id think

The gauge is doesn't read right, the oil temp is right where it should be and with old cluster the water temp read right, after replacing it it no longer does. No clue why. Swapping the new and old cluster showed the temp reading right on the old one, but wrong on the new one.

Who knows if the sensor was different in different models or what. The old cluster was all resistors the new one is all contained in a few chips. Eitherway I'm not concerned.

yeah cruise control on these things fail hardcore. its supposed to let you relax a little but it just gives me the s**ts cos it keeps surging back to the correct speed once it dips below the set speed!

I get 450km from a tank all the time. Mostly freeway cruisin. I really wanna do some long distance stuff soon and see how the dub handles it.
