Wheel bearings & control arm bushing

So I took the dub in for a wheel alignment today coz the steerings been vibrating like a ****. Torque steer too.

The bob jane ppl mull around and do their thing, while I watch crappy daytime tv. Then the guy who was working on the dub said "you need to come look at this". Oh crap.

In short: collapsed front left wheel bearing and split front left control arm bushing. Been advised to get both fixed pronto.

They gave the impression it will be costly , does vw watercooled australia agree?

ps. On the upside I found out I have KYB front suspension. No idea what model but its red

Several choices here. Should be less than an hour a side to fit them in a workshop.

Wheel bearings about an hour to do as well.

    book. marked.

another sweet site for vdub bits, cheers!

A vdub specialist here in Perth reckons about $90 for the wheel bearing and ditto for labour. Says he has to get back to me on the bush.

You will probably have to replace the hub as well. It is pretty common on VR6's.

Bugger. It used to happen on my old Mazda 626 every few years too so I just assumed it was a fact of life with FWD cars.

Disappointing though, since I only just got this thing.
