That's the idle stabiliser and they all blow up
AFAIK I know it can be safely deleted, although I have never had one so can't help with the procedure.
Hey Guys,
Looks like i found the cause of my issues - but not knowing alot about vr6 engines.....what the hell is it? And why does it appear to have exploded?
It also has this sponge thing inside it _ I assume it was some sort of breather filter??
Heres what was left of it that I found under my car!!
Not sure what happened here but think it might be part of the issue!!

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you. | Refer a Friend - AussieBroadband $50 Credit
Thats the ISV muffler (not the actual ISV itself), relatively common that they blow up supposedly haha. Fairly sure you can just bypass it by connecting the isv straight to the intake, deleting that bit. I have done it but havent run the car since (I did it merely to clean up the engine bay a little, but havent started the car as im still waiting on a new sump and oil pump...)
You can also delete the isv all togehtor and block it off at the intake tube and the intake manifold, or just unplug it and that will also stop it. Only thing is the car might stall if you try running the ac and such at idle as it wont automatically bump it up a little. I ran mine unplugged for a week or so too see if I could run it without the thing, and it was fine, however i never tried the AC.
If you want to replace it you can get a new one off gap for a bit of cash, or alternatively if I get my c ar up and running again and it runs fine I'd send you mine for a little.
and yeah that would most likely explain why your car hasnt been running, sucking in a tonne of unmetered air...
Thanks guys - I knew someone would recognize it! I dont have working Ac so maybe I'll just bypass it.
looks like your problem is solved. About that stubborn bolt, if you still havent got it off, you could drill a hole through the side of the bolt head, then stick the longest thickest piece of metal you can get (this magnifies you turning power) in it, then use either your hands or a hammer to turn it.
dont drill to big of a hole cause then you might break the bolt head.
OR
You can fill the sides till you have the edges back again, then take it to a garage that has a nut gun.

bypassed my isv muffler today and disconnected the battery to reset the ICU and what do you know - the sucker runs! Now to deal with my stubborn suspension bolt, cactus cooling system and whatever else breaks and I'm in business!
