    what tyre pressures ya running?

in the process of doing the front suspension bushes etc then off for a wheel alignment. followed shortly by new tyres.

What pressures are you guys running? my current tyres are 205/45R16, keen to get everything right to get as even wear as possible.
I think the Book says 32psi front & 29psi rear with standard rims & tyres but what about aftermarket.

Standard ride height if that makes a difference.

    Cheers

When I had a MK3 with 205/45r16 I think I was running 36psi all round as a minimum. Often I'd pump them up to 40psi - especially at the front

    Ive always gone 35psi ±10% on 195/50 R15 and my old 14's.
Sometimes the tyres tell you on the sidewall.

That's the maximum pressure written on the sidewall. They can't do a recomended normal running pressure because they don't know the weight of the vehicle they are fitted to

    i ran my 205/45s between 36 and 40psi.

Height wont play a part in what pressures you need to run

Correct, it gives you a ball park of what not to go near.

Of course you also need to be using a tyre pressure gauge that actually indicates correctly

It's actually a maximum operating pressure. It's at that pressure that the tyre has its' maximum load carrying capacity. There would be a safety factor built into it & that maximum pressure would be "cold". ie: If the max recommended pressure was 46psi & after driving an hour it was at 50psi then there's no need to bleed pressure back to 46psi.

I've known plenty of taxi operators that run their tyres at 50-60psi without issue (I wouldn't do it but taxi operators are "special")

thanks people, thought the standard book pressures looked a little "flat", looks like I have to kick the compressor in the guts.
