Brakes and Bolts

Hi Guys,

I've done a bit of digging, but does anyone know where I can find a DIY for front brakes on the VR6? Is it just a matter of:

Remove caliper and caliper bracket, remove disc screw remove disc, clean hub, new disc, new pads reinstall and bleed? Any other tricks?

I'm thinking of doing the bearings at the same time but it seems like a fairly involved job and I don't have any of the tools...

Any advice appreciated.



Also, have a weird problem where the front left horizontal control arm bolt keeps loosening off after about 100 or 200ks and which means I start to get movement in the steering wheel under acceleration. Any ideas why this would be happening? I had loctite on it but that didnt seem to help. Might try and pull it out and regrease and reinstall but I can't see how it is just loosening off itself!! Definitely torqued it to spec.

Maybe look at replacing it, might be damaged.
Can't recall if they are stretch bolts or not...

I actually did! The ecs bushing kit came with new bolts so I put them in. Might try the old one instead

Sorry just realised you were talking about brake haha. Probably will stick with stock sizes sorry, Hayden. But I'll get some updated pads and maybe slotted/ driller rotors because they look sick as. Will replace all the brake lines as well.

I'd go back to your OEM bolt so long as it still looks alright.

Put a little bit more loctite on it and give it a bit more torque, shouldn't hurt it.

Embarrassingly I hadn't realised there were two different lengths of bolt that came in the ECS kit and put both the long ones on the right sid eof the subframe so I had a short one in the front left control arm bushing...

But all sorted now with loctite and properly torqued! Should be all good

brakes are easy bro, jack it up and get it done, you'll be fine..... as for the bearings, if you don't have a press, get your taptap on with a hammer, slowly moving around, bit by bit with removal and installation. also a rattle gun will help with the axle nut, other wise get someone to stomp the brakes whilst you crank it....

shouldn't be any need to bleed the lines though? unless you're doing the fluid too?

side note to the torquing too, always nip it after it clicks....
