What front tyres recommended?

Just had a puncture in one of the front tyres and discovered a space-saver spare - yuk!! Does a full size sit OK in the tyre-well? I have standard rims - 185/60R14s. The tyre is badly worn and I need two new front ones, what do people recommend? I have a Tdi and it seems to eat through the rubber, or mayb it is my driving. Also, any recommendations to get thr tyres to stick to the road under fast acceleration - what do you VR6 guys do? Yeah I know slow down.

Well, for one thing, VR6 tyres are 2 sizes wider, and usualy a sports pattern and compound. mine are 205/50 15.

A full size spare does not fit in the wheel well. to fit a fullsize spare, you would need to build a raised floor in the boot.

I dont know why your car eats rubber, my VR6 is on it original tyres i bought it with, and ive done 30,000km on them, and a trip to the drags, and they now neew replacing. What sort of milage are you getting?

I am running standard rims too. I had to put new tyres on my car after i bought it, and went to Yokohama A drives. Only done about 7,000 km, so dont know how wear will be, but grip is fantastic, really dependable, wet and dry.

Only caveat is that i did not really drive the car hard before I put these tyres on, so dont know how much of the grip and handling is from a well sorted chassis and suspension versus tyres.

But at this stage would get them again..

I have pirelli p-zero neros. Without putting a too finer point on it, they are the ducks nuts.

Its been raining pretty heavy over here in perth lately, so the roads are all greasy. Havent lost grip once yet*.

Looks like the wheel alignment is so out of whack that I'm tiptoing along the road and loosing traction every time I put my foot down. Not much choice in 14 inch wheels - eh. It's booked in for a wheel alignment and two new front tyres. My mechanic is pretty rude about Toyos/Yokos/Prellis, but then he knows how rough the roads are around here. So I'm gonna have cheapie Bridges or GTs for this round and save up for 15 inch rims and better tyres next time. Thanks for the help.

By the way do 15 inch rims mean the tyre snags on the shock absorber, it all looks pretty close, so do the 25inch rims bring the tyre out further?
