Pretty sure all 4 cyclinder Mk3's have a limiter of 5000rpm. Not point really going over about 4300 any ways.
Just wondering if its normal for my Mk3 2.0L 8V to hard rev limit at 5000rpm? The dash goes further. You'll see in my last post about my starting problem. Could you all let me know what your mk3 2.0L limits at, and what your distributor is? Maybe even a picture or part number?
Thanks heaps for your help guys.

mine was about 5500-5800 IIRC (AGG engine). Never bothered to go there much as it was nicer to just use the torque of the little beasty.

Yer mine is AGG, its not that I want to use it, I was more just interested in why it was. I'm not right next to my car atm, but im sure the "red line" on my dash is up around the 6 - 7000 rpm.
Seen over 8K on mine, but that's with 40mm Dellortos and a MK2 electronic dizzy.

If your hitting rev limiter below 6500 then you need to adjust the timing.

Mines an ADY and stops moving once I hit about 5000rpm. It's useless at that range though so there's not much point revving past about 4500rpm or so..
Yeah 6500 sounds about right. Hell, even my diesel rev's past 5000![]()

Checked today a few times hard limit in my CL (ADZ) is 5800rpm.
Thanks for the replies. If I get mine started again I'll check the timing out. I knew they should do more than 5.
