9N3's go from around 13k, need a chip tune and some coilovers/better coils to be much fun. Frequently one for sale on here, 2 or 3 now. 135kw with the chip. Still, a VR6 is more raw, sounds better and cheaper.
Good luck.
what sort of money are you looking to spend? My 2 door vr6 is for sale - have a look in the for sale section. And just to stay on topic it has 168,000kms.

sorry to hijack but i'm also after a manual vr6 in melbs
Hi. My VR6 is for sale. It is manual & in reasonable condition. A couple of things need attention - drivers window just stopped working and needs new engine mounts.
I'm planning to put it up for sale in a week or so.
PM if interested
Hi all. This one above sounds good. My drivers window is also broken. It might be as easy as getting new runners, $100 or so off eBay. But if its the plastic cog bit that's not as easy, wrecker's would be the go as vw used the same motor in a lot of their cars for many years. Vw want $750 ish for a new motor as they don't sell the weak plastic cog alone. I bought mine with only 71000 on it. Its a 1996 but I have had a few elec problems which suck. Just drive them, you will know when you find a good one, after all, having problems with a 2nd car is all part of the fun. Oh, and every thing is for sale for the right price. Ha ha. Happy shopping.
Yeah, one of my rear had broken too but I was able to use a cable tie to hold it as it jumped off the cable runner. It might be easy as that. If it can't be fixed with a cable tie its not worth fixing! Ha ha
