I don't care much for 0-100km/h figures myself - has anyone got some 1/4 mile times and trap speeds for both cars?

I'd get a Bora personally because I'd prefer something newer and nicer to drive. Leather heated seats, sunroof, all the small luxuries. It's a totally different car to a VR6 in my opinion. I think Bora 4MO vs R32 would be a little bit closer as a comparison.

-power in the 4motion is very linear, n the gearing is awesome - what u feel at 3500 rpm is the same pull as wat you feel at 5500 rpm - u can really feel the torque at around 3000 rpm also. very economical for a v6 weighing 1500kg - giving it a hit every so often still pull 11.3l/100km in town - i remember the vr6 was closer to 10.5.. on the highway its a beaut, vr6 felt unstable >160km/h, 4motion does 200km/h easy, n still feels quite sturdy . after driving it for a while tho it feels slow, 0-100 is bout 8 secs, could just be myself getting used to it, or maybe cus its so quiet? .. anyone know of any soft mods to make it feel fast ?? (without turbo etc...)

    cold air intake??
    suspension ??
I think a good soft mod that make you feel like your going faster or make you feel like a bit of a racer is a short shift kit

I have a V6 4mo bora and a 10 sec 0-60 time is a joke, mine has nothingm ore than a K&N filter and a cat back milltek,it dyno'd about 220 bhp and i have a proven 0-60mph time of 6.9secs and that was one go out of maybe 3 and iv'e no doubt i could do better.

As for the noise,a milltek quickly sorts out that one,my bora now sounds sweeter than a stock R32

Sorry for ressurecting and old thread but i have to set right misinformation,i also have an old issue of VW driver some where were the compared the V6 nora and VR6 performance wise (ill dig it out) but if i remember correctly the bora was slightly faster,as for the V5 bora being faster? never

My 4Mo goes quite well for a luxo water bed. Certainly a lot better than a VR6, both off the line (traction) and in gear (proper gear ratios).

DBilas chip has it at 165kW - a few more bits and pieces to level with R32 figures and then I'm happy.

Very nice cars for the money nowadays

And heres another bit of intersting trivia that you might not now but the V6 4mo bora stock is 50 kgs lighter than a stock R32,most of this is because of the R32 front brake set up which weighs a whopping 40kgs!!!!!!

Ive got rid of my 312m front set up and replaced them with the ECS set up thus shedding another 7kgs,the milltek exhaust is considerably lighter than stock too so im up already lol!

I too belive the Bora is a much nice car than the VR6, but it all depends what you want really. Do you want a brash, and rather crude front wheel drive hatch back that lights up the fronts at whim, or do you want a sophisticated AWD with a nice V6 punch and whole lot of other features.

I chose the VR6 on the basis of financial reasons and the brutality of the car, but given a second chance and more funds the Bora would definately be close, or #1, they're great cars.

    Bora 4MO + VF= fun fun fun

I have seriously thought about supercharging one of these but in the end when I want to change cars (which I do more often than I should ) what's it going to be worth? Not that much I suspect.

I used to have a Golf VR6, it had chip, K&N filter, custom exhaust, Eibachs and Koni yellows. I now have a Bora 4motion with reflash, K&N filter (with cold air feed), Miltek catback (sounds great), R32 Euro spec suspension. The VR6 was a fun car and very 'chuckable', brilliant note, brutal feel, but felt quicker than it was. The Bora is more refined, a little less engaging, but is definitely much quicker. Bora drivers seat is a much nicer place be, and the 6speed gear ratios are much more useable than the VR6 5speed.

Difficult to compare these as VR6s are $8-10k and Bora 4mos are $18-20k.

If I was in the market for spending around $10k I would consider another VR6, or maybe a Pulsar GTiR......

Is there more rear passenger space in the Bora vs the VR6?

It's a mk4 golf with a bigger boot, so whatever you compare from the interior will be the same as comparing it to a mk4 golf

Not that I actually know the answer to your question Simon....you might even know it yourself now! haha
